Le Guess Who? Grimm Grimm

Grimm Grimm (c) Le Guess Who?

Former Screaming Tea Party-member Koichi Yamanoha was once better known for his scream than his whisper. ‘Hazy Eyes Maybe’, the Japanese-born, London-based musician’s debut LP under the moniker Grimm Grimm, changed all that with a subdued record of ruminant, nocturnal acid folk. Grimm Grimm artlessly surveys the fabric of shoegaze (Yamanoha co-founded the label Pickpocket records with Kevin Shields in 2014), Shugo Tokumaru, 60s West Coast pop and the melodicism of early Belle & Sebastian.

This event is part of the Le Guess Who? program and is only open to people with a Le Guess Who? wristband.

Usufructuaries of earth
Chapter one: exhibition

The exhibition foregrounds the artist’s collaborative approach to bringing together ecological, feminist, and decolonial knowledges and practices that put forward ideologies of usufruct, unhinging property-relations from the idiom of individuated possession and toward forms of common userships between humans and other-than-humans.
