The Postresearch Condition

European Artistic Research Network (EARN) x Smart Culture Conference (NWO)

This four-day online conference articulates the current situation of artistic research. After an omnipresent “Research Decade,” the concept of artistic research currently seems to be in need of a recharge. Emerging questions are: Should there be a conversation about a postresearch situation and/or condition? Could this be compared with how poststructuralism relates to structuralism as its philosophical comprehension and the elaboration of its consequences? And how could a postresearch condition address contemporary art practices?

More information, full program: see here. The propositions, screenings, and inverventions take place on Zoom. A link to the Zoom session will be posted on the same website, some time in advance.

Propositions, Screenings, and Interventions: Vytautas Michelkevicius, Florian Cramer, Denise Ferreira da Silva, Amanda Beech, Terike Haapoja, Renate Lorenz (PhD in Practice, Vienna), and Irit Rogoff.
Update January: the program item by Peter Osborne & Hito Steyerl (26 January) will be postponed to a later date; more information to follow.

Working Groups and Seminars: Methodologies (Rethinking Artistic Research through the Concept of the Continuous Prototype), Curatorial Issues (Expo-Facto: Into the Algorithm of Exhibition), Sustainability (Re-visioning the Work of Art and the Academic Conference), The Politics of Aesthetics (Challenging the violence of interpretation through Aesthetic Forms), and Value (Discussing Evaluation Models, Methods and Criteria).

Usufructuaries of earth
Chapter one: exhibition

The exhibition foregrounds the artist’s collaborative approach to bringing together ecological, feminist, and decolonial knowledges and practices that put forward ideologies of usufruct, unhinging property-relations from the idiom of individuated possession and toward forms of common userships between humans and other-than-humans.
