Le Guess Who? Ed Dowie

Ed Dowie (c) Le Guess Who?

Adrift somewhere in purgatory between Syd Barrett and Robert Wyatt, the immense spacious beauty of Ed Dowie’s debut LP ‘The Uncle Sold’ can’t be overstated enough. Drawing inspiration from the Kazuo Ishiguro novel ‘The Unconsoled’, the former Brothers In Sound stalwart writes and composes with a deep attentiveness, allowing melodies and words to materialize in unhurried, generous fashion. For the patient listener, Dowie’s penchant for orchestral quietude and wry lyricism is a soothing and affirming escapade.

This event is part of the Le Guess Who? program and is only open to people with a Le Guess Who? wristband.

Usufructuaries of earth
Chapter one: exhibition

The exhibition foregrounds the artist’s collaborative approach to bringing together ecological, feminist, and decolonial knowledges and practices that put forward ideologies of usufruct, unhinging property-relations from the idiom of individuated possession and toward forms of common userships between humans and other-than-humans.
