Fellow 2020

Triwish Hanoeman

Utrecht-born rapper/producer with Surinamese-Hindustani roots, Triwish Hanoeman, started out in 2003 as rapper 3wish and has since become an entrepreneur in the music and cultural scene. His projects range from performing arts workshops and talent development, to project management organizing, programming, and participation. A small selection of his 2019 projects include De Jam 030, de Buurtcamping Park Transwijk, and De Sint Maarten Parade, all Utrecht. While social issues force us to rethink the value of “our” art, cultural preservation, and documentation for the future, it also provides an opportunity to contribute, by sharing an artist’s and cultural professional’s experience with a new generation of makers. From 2020 onward, 3wish’s mission is to empower (local) artists from culturally diverse backgrounds by means of initiatives such as the monthly online radio show 030netwerk, and by managing a personal recording studio available for local talent. 3wish’s projects aim to support artists wanting to make concrete steps in the creative industry without losing their integrity or financial independence. More of Hanoeman lives and works in Utrecht.

Fellowship Research Trajectory

For the 2020 BAK Fellowship, nine Fellowships are awarded to practitioners engaged with local communities and struggles for developing a focus on long lasting, mutual support with and through BAK as a public art institution. Former BAK Fellow and artist Jeanne van Heeswijk joins this strand as BAK Associate to conceptually guide the research and work on forms of proximity and building connections.

Next to these nine selected Fellows, six members of the collective freethought have been invited to participate in the 2020 edition of the Fellowship.
