Renata Salecl is a researcher, writer, and professor. Currently she is Centennial Professor in the Law Faculty at the London School of Economics, London and a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Criminology at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana. Salecl has held numerous Visiting Professorships at Cardoza School of Law, New York, Humboldt University, Berlin, and Duke University, Durham, among other institutions. Her work focuses on bringing together law, criminology, and psychoanalysis. Salecl is currently working on a book entitled Tyranny of Choice, which analyzes why the late-capitalist insistence on choice increases feelings of anxiety and guilt. In addition to regularly contributing to a number of scholarly journals, her recent publications include: Sobre a felicidade: ansiedade e consumo na era do hipercapitalismo (2005); The Anxiety of Love Letters in Lacan and Contemporary Film (2004); and On Anxiety (2004).
