After making paper for the last two sessions, BB will now experiment with using this paper as a container for new endeavors. Our lovely hosts will follow afterward with a workshop on ad hacking and subvertising. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2026is part of the Ultradependent Public School (UPS) curriculum of BAK, Basis voor actuele kunst&#8217;s Community Portal.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">ULTRASTUDIO<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Since October 2022, seven study groups have been doing fieldwork towards BAK Community Portal\u2019s first large-scale public project\u2014 <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ultradependent Public School<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\"> (UPS), which opens from 01 April\u201327 May 2023.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>ULTRADEPENDENT PUBLIC SCHOOL <\/em><span data-contrast=\"auto\">unfolds as the public negotiation of a curriculum to learn what we really need to enact the worlds we really want. UPS is co-convened with an extended faculty of students, educators, and practitioners. UPS inhabits the edges between formal classrooms and everyday life while emphasizing study as radically collective and the public labor that lives in-between institutionalized hierarchies. It navigates kitchens, print studios, housing squats, community centers, garages, radio stations, hallways, public transportation, and sidewalks as sites of study. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\"><em>ULTRASTUDIO<\/em> is one of the curricular nodes at U<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ltradependent Public School (UPS),<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> led by the question of how to build livable communities through the political act of publishing. It is configured as a series of knowledge exchanges between\u202fprint workshops,\u202fsquatting communities, and housing rights advocates across the Netherlands. Ultrastudio is convened by two friendly satellites: the Book Binding Studio of the Sandberg Institute\/Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam\u2014with Miquel Herv\u00e1s G\u00f3mez and Ott Metusala\u2014and cultural worker Lila Athanasiadou.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h3><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><b>THE FACILITATORS<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">BB<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">BB (200<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">8, Amsterdam). The Bookbinding Workshop at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and Sandberg Insituut is a workspace that allows the production of books and publications in small editions and specific manipulations of paper and cardboard. Next to being a technical workshop, the BB workshop also functions as a cross-departmental point in our institution. Mainly working on applied and self-initiated projects, he is currently also workshop manager at the BB Workshop and publisher as Catalog.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lila Athanasiadou<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lila Athanasiadou (1989, Athens) is a cultural worker, researcher, and architect whose practice spans from visual and audio essays to teaching encounters and cultural activism.
