{"id":3282,"date":"2018-01-16T13:59:23","date_gmt":"2018-01-16T12:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archive2.bakonline.org\/program-item\/global-art-challenges-2016\/"},"modified":"2018-06-01T15:23:26","modified_gmt":"2018-06-01T13:23:26","slug":"global-art-challenges-2016","status":"publish","type":"program_item","link":"https:\/\/archive2.bakonline.org\/nl\/program-item\/global-art-challenges-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Global Art Challenges 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"text_module_57bc0164e50ac70031000144\" class=\"modulor web_module text_module content\">\n<div class=\"modulor container text_module\">\n<div class=\"modulor content text_module\">\n<div class=\"body\">\n<p>In het kader van de internationale conferentie <a href=\"http:\/\/globalartchallenge.wix.com\/gac2016\">Challenges of Global Art: Towards an \u201cEcology of Knowledges\u201d<\/a> op 28 en 29 april 2016 draagt artistiek directeur Maria Hlavajova van BAK een lezing bij aan het panel &#8220;Art-as-Intervention-in-Reality: \u201cEcology of Knowledges\u201d and Institutional Practices.&#8221; Ze behandelt in haar presentatie de vraag How to be Together <em>Otherwise<\/em>, of hoe we <em>op een andere manier<\/em> kunnen samenzijn.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This panel aims to think about\u2014and through\u2014artistic practice in the present moment, understood by Zygmunt Bauman as the \u201ccondition in which rulers no longer can rule and the ruled no longer wish to be ruled\u201d. Within this context, it becomes paramount to reconsider and rearticulate foundational Western epistemological categories such as progress, criticism, nature-culture relations, and the very notions of the nation-state, the museum, and the institution of art. For these reasons, the panel suggests a discussion of case studies that propose new avenues for redirecting institutional artistic activities towards practical applications of an \u201cecology of knowledges\u201d on an experimental and discursive terrain.
