As Love Spells explains:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><em>Engaging with queer, feminist and decolonial approaches and drawing on developments in cultural studies more broadly, we move not just beyond Freud\u2019s \u2018pleasure principle\u2019 but beyond Freud himself, and invite ourselves to think of desire as \u2018schizo-\u2019 instead: \u201cA primary relay to individuated social identity, as in coupling, family, reproduction, and other sites of personal history,\u201d desire, as Lauren\u00a0Berlant notes in Desire\/Love, is \u201calso the impulse that most destabilises people, putting them into plots beyond their control\u201d.\u00a0 As a kind of evental magick, this destabilisation also binds us together in unexpected ways, carrying the power to perform the impossible: it \u201creorganises worlds.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><em>How, we ask, do we call on this power of desire, reinvigorated today by black, feminist, and queer perspectives, to design rituals that further enable communities of difference and bring about another world?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You can watch documentation of the conference, including van der Drift&#8217;s presentation <a href=\"https:\/\/lovespellsrhul.wixsite.com\/2020#\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1 class=\"title style-scope ytd-video-primary-info-renderer\">\u00a0<\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BAK 2019\/2020 Fellow Mijke van der Drift presents her research The Logic of Loss in Bonding in the talk &#8220;Realisitcally Impossible: The Magic of Social Change&#8221; at the virtual conference Love Spells &amp; Rituals for Another World.
