Hito <\/span>Steyerl<\/span> <\/span>is a<\/span><\/span> filmmaker, philosopher, and cultural critic. In addition to teaching, she co-founded the Research Center for Proxy Politics, together with Vera <\/span>Tollmann<\/span> and Boa<\/span>z Levin. Operating from 2014 through 2017, the <\/span>organization<\/span> hosted lectures and discussions on <\/span>various topics<\/span>, including the potential for resistance within a networked society and the role of art in emergency situations.<\/span><\/span> She roots her investigative practi<\/span>ce in the proliferation of digital images and the large-scale implications of such circumstances. <\/span>Steyerl\u2019s<\/span> work takes the form of essays, lectures, installations, video, and photography.
