Op basis van een sociaal ontwerpkader biedt zijn werk een verkenning van de manieren waarop ideologie\u00ebn beweging vormgeven en vice versa. Hij onderzoekt hoe ons lichaam sociale normen propageert, internaliseert en reproduceert, en hoe deze kunnen worden afgeleerd door middel van activiteiten die de groepsdynamiek deconstrueren. In deze context ontwikkelt Fontana alternatieve teamsporten en -spellen die sport heruitvinden als een queer pedagogiek.
