Parvulesco
Elias Parvulesco is an artist, director, and film researcher based in Kyiv. He is a film history scholar and programmer at the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre, Kyiv (2015–ongoing); co-founder of the art and film union ruїns collective (2017–2021); and was co-founder and editor of Cineticle, an online magazine on auteur cinema (2010–2015). His works investigate the limits of imagining nonhuman agency, the deconstructing of hierarchies in human-nature communication, and the technological mediation of experience and perception, among other frames. He took part at Glasgow Short Film Festival, Glasgow (2022); The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Oberhausen (2022); Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, Kyiv (2020); Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival, Kyiv (2018); Ji.hlava IDFF, Jihlava (2014, 2018); Odesa International Film Festival, Odesa (2016); 86 International Festival of Film and Urbanism, Slavutych (2016). Also, he took part in collective exhibitions and art projects, such as Armed and Dangerous (2019); Gray Cube (2018); Social realism. Pretend to be different (2018); Climate Emergency Movement (2019); Creating Ruin (2018, 2019); NHT (with Teta Tsybulnyk), Mala Galereya of Mystetskyi Arsenal, Kyiv, 2020; Kyiv Biennial, Kyiv, 2021. He was also a nominee of the PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2020, a nationwide prize in contemporary art for young Ukrainian artists.
