Antonio Paucar is an installation and performance artist. He graduated as a visual artist from Universität der Künste Berlin, Berlin. His work centers on subjects such as Andean traditions, ancestrality, resistance, and ritual, as well as violence and migration. In his performances, Paucar carries out subtle movements that demarcate intense imaginary worlds and move through private, public, and political spaces that are both culturally and symbolically laden. Solo exhibitions include Caminos cargados de memoria, Ministerio de Cultura DDC Junín, Huancayo, 2016; and Antonio Paucar, Galerie Barbara Thumm, Berlin, 2014. He also exhibited his work at De Voz a Voz Perú, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Lima, Lima, 2020; Time Goes By: Rebecca Horn & Antonio Paucar, ifa-Galerie Berlin, Berlin, 2020; and Acts of Passage, Te Tuhi, Auckland, 2018. He has been awarded prizes such as the Wong Amables Con El Planeta Prize, 2019; the Latin American Roaming Art Prize, 2013; and the Zeitsicht Art Award, 2011. Paucar lives and works between Berlin and Huancayo.
