Angga Wijaya
Angga Wijaya is a curator and educator, who works collectively with Serrum, art and pedagogy study group. At Gudskul, Angga teaches the subject Collective Arts Review, mapping the development of collective art practices. He also teaches History of Art at Erudio Indonesia, a democratic and project-based art high school. Angga studied curatorial practices at several workshops as Arts Writing and Criticism at ruangrupa (2012), Young Curator, Jakarta Arts Council (2013), Curatorial workshop at Japan Foundation Jakarta, and ASEAN Curatorial workshop at Japan Foundation Asia Centre, Tokyo (2014). In his curatorial practice, Angga uses research methods on art history, pedagogy, social sphere, collective and collaborative practice. Angga initiated art projects with curatorial work covering research about issues around the social and cultural sphere of women such as: Yang Tersingkap: Indonesian Hijab Culture, Jakarta Arts Council, 2018; Tulang Punggung: Industrial Relations against Women Labour, Jakarta Arts Council, 2017; Bon Seni: Mechanism of State Power in Women’s Correctional Institutions, Jakarta Arts Council, 2016; Wani Ditata: Women Construction through State Bureaucracy, Jakarta Arts Council, 2015. Angga is also part of Kolektif Kurator Kampung, a collective with art activities in urban and rural spaces. He lives and works in Depok and Jakarta, and is the co-coordinator of the GUDsel at Gudskul, Jakarta, in the Fellowship for Situated Practice.
