Fragments of Repair/Gatherings

A public program realized in the framework of the multi-part project Fragments of Repair

Fragments of Repair/Gatherings involves an online/offline series of lectures, conversations, screenings, and assembly forums convened by BAK around the theory and practice of repair, that takes place in the framework of the multi-part project Fragments of Repair.

The gatherings take place on a fortnightly basis (at BAK and on bakonline.org) between 2 May–26 September 2021. Confirmed contributors include artist Kader Attia (Berlin); philosopher Souleymane Bachir Diagne (philosopher, New York/Dakar); BAK general and artistic director Maria Hlavajova (Utrecht), art historian and BAK senior research advisor Sven Lütticken (Utrecht), BAK curator Wietske Maas (Utrecht/Berlin), philosopher Catherine Malabou (Paris); philosopher and political thinker Achille Mbembe (Johannesburg); writer, critic, and curator Olivier Marboeuf (Paris); material culture and critical heritage scholar and curator Wayne Modest (Rotterdam/Amsterdam); writer and critic Omedi Ochieng (Granville, OH); medical anthropologist Stefania Pandolfo (Berkeley, CA); BAK curator of public practice Rachael Rakes (Utrecht/Amsterdam); decolonial scholar Rolando Vázquez (Utrecht); political theorist, feminist, and decolonial activist Françoise Vergès (Paris); and abolitionist scholar and activist Ruth Wilson Gilmore (Lisbon).

Registration:
There are several ways to join the gatherings. You can attend the programs online, and, from 5 June 2021 onwards, it is also possible to join us in person (limited capacity) at BAK!

VII. CULMINATING CONVERSATION

Gathering VII is the concluding program to Fragments of Repair/Gatherings, including a conversation between artist Kader Attia, BAK general and artistic director Maria Hlavajova, and BAK curator Wietske Maas. It also marks the conclusion of the exhibition Fragments of Repair/Kader Attia with the opportunity to visit the exhibition in the presence of the artist.
