BAK, basis voor Yallah Sabaya

Special International Women's Day edition

On Saturday 7 March 2020 BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht hosts a special International Women’s Day edition of Yallah Sabaya!

Yallah Sabaya (“Come ladies! Enjoy yourselves!” in Arabic) is a special evening where dance and music connect women from all over the world. All women, no matter where they are from, are welcome on this evening to chat and dance.

Because this is an evening to relax and have fun we ask you not to bring your children. Friends, older daughters, sisters and mothers are very welcome!

Yallah Sabaya is organized by Welcome to Utrecht, De Voorkamer, Yallah Yallah and BAK, basis for contemporary art, Utrecht. For this edition we also collaborated with Mama Cash.

Yallah Sabaya is a ‘sister event’ of Yallah Yallah, Ekko.
Yallah Sabaya is also part of BAK, basis voor…, where BAK serves as a base for collaborative gatherings with collectives, groups, and organizations assembled on the ground of a shared urgency to think about, imagine, and actualize a socially and ecologically just future.

Usufructuaries of earth
Chapter one: exhibition

The exhibition foregrounds the artist’s collaborative approach to bringing together ecological, feminist, and decolonial knowledges and practices that put forward ideologies of usufruct, unhinging property-relations from the idiom of individuated possession and toward forms of common userships between humans and other-than-humans.
